The Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic, Saapade (GAPOSA) has announced the landmark appointments of Dr. Julius Popoola as its first substantive Registrar and Dr. Christy-Olabisi Adeeko as its first substantive Polytechnic Librarian.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Folorunso Adedayo, the appointments, made by the institution’s Governing Council, are for a single, non-renewable tenure of five years for each official.
Dr. Popoola, who has served as the Acting Registrar since 2019, brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to the role.
He joined the polytechnic’s registry as an administrative officer in 2007 and rose through the ranks.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Psychology (Personnel Psychology) from Olabisi Onabanjo University and is a fellow of multiple professional institutes, including the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria and the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators.
Similarly, Dr. Adeeko has been appointed after serving as the Acting Polytechnic Librarian since 2023. A seasoned professional, she joined GAPOSA in 2012.
She earned her Doctorate, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees in Library and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan.
She is a certified member of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, expressed strong confidence in the new appointees.
He commended their vast experience and notable contributions to polytechnic education, research, and administration in Nigeria.
The statement said the appointments reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to excellence and its focus on strengthening polytechnic education as a critical driver of innovation, skills development, and national growth.
