Professor Rasaki Olufemi Kareem has been appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Crescent University, Abeokuta.

Making the announcement on behalf of the vice chancellor at the floor of the Crescent University Senate on Thursday 25th September, 2025, the Registrar Barr. Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola, while congralating Prof. Kareem, said the appointment would take effect from 1st October, 2025.

A professor of Resource and Development Economics, Rasaki Olufemi Kareem joined the services of Crescent University in 2009 as Lecturer II, rising through the ranks to become a professor in 2022.

An indefatigable academic and former Head of Department of Economics, Prof. Kareem has served Crescent University in various capacity including Chairman, Results Vetting Committee; Chairman, Admissions Committee; Chairman, Taskforce on Staff and Discipline; Chairman, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Documentations Committee for National Universities Commission Accreditation; Member, Screening Committee for Kano State Students’ Scholarship; Member, Governing Council and Member, Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD) to mention but a few.

Until his appointment, he was Dean of Students’ Affairs, the role through which his team has brought sanity and moral discipline to Crescent University students.

His tireless commitment has also earned him the role of Acting Dean of College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences,and Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies within the university.

Prof. Kareem has supervised over 70 undergraduate projects, about 20 postgraduate thesis and has published not less 70 local and international journal articles.

According to AD Scientific Index, Prof. Kareem has been cited more than 900 times by Google Scholar. His research work in entrepreneurship, economic analysis, fiscal and monetary policies have been globally accessed and widely acknowledged.

Meanwhile,members of the university community have expressed their hearty congratulations to the new deputy vice chancellor.
