The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
The decision was made known on Monday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, after the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
According to Ologunagba, the resolution followed the submission of a report by the Zoning Committee chaired by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
He added that NEC also affirmed the existing zoning arrangement for the National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of the party’s elective convention in November.
“NEC recommended that the North and South should retain their current NWC positions,” Ologunagba stated. “Since the National Chairman of the party is zoned to the North, the PDP 2027 presidential ticket is hereby zoned to the South.”
The NEC further expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations for the convention.
