The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Adejobi, who assumed officer as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) on February 16, 2022, was initially appointed in an acting capacity while holding the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). He took over from Frank Mba and was later confirmed in the role by the then Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
Since stepping into the national spotlight as police spokesperson, Adejobi has worked to reform the public image of the Force, improve its communication channels, and rebuild trust with Nigerians especially in the wake of rising concerns over police conduct and accountability.
An illustrious alumni of the University of Ibadan, Adejobi holds a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology and Geography and a master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution. His experience in police public relations dates back to 2008, when he served as PPRO in Ogun State, a role he held until 2016.
Felicitating with him on the promotion, the current Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, described Adejobi as “a shining example of integrity and service,” and urged him to continue upholding the values of the force.
