The Lagos State Government has reiterated its directive to the newly elected council chairmen across the state on appointment of aides.
Recall, Theliberationnews reports that the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the directive initially on Sunday when he sworn-in the 57 chairmen at the State house, Ikeja.
Sanwo-Olu barred them council from appointing Secretary to Local Governments (SLGs) and supervisory councillors except Chief of Staff for now.
He urged them to use the next 30 to 60 days to get themselves familiar with the needs of their respective communities.
In a memo signed by the permanent secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, on Thursday, the government urged the council bosses to adhere to its earlier directive.
The statement obtained by Theliberationnews reads: “I write to refer to the directive of Mr. Governor at the swearing-in ceremony in respect of the appointment of Political Office Holders in the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas particularly the Supervisors, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
“I am to reiterate that, the appointment of the Chief Of Staff is the only appointment approved/permissible as you assume office, while other appointment should be stepped down until further directive.
“You are enjoined to note the above and revert any appointment that has been made except the Chief Of Staff.”
