“Fast forward to 2017, January, February, March passed. April, May and June followed suit. Then came July. Nothing spectacular or worth noting happened in the first and second weeks of the month. Then came July 25, on my birthday, I was first sworn in as Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government.
“On that lucky day of mine, I was re-elected as the Council’s chairman for the second time in 2021.
“The coincidences didn’t end there. The exalted title of Otun of Egbaland was bestowed on me on my birthday in the year 2022.
“Today, my birthday, my reign as Agege Local Government chairman comes to a close. It marks the end of eight years of many sleepless nights in my quest to make Agege better than I met it.
“To that end, I tried my best and thanks those who teamed up with me to pursue the noble cause.
“The management and staff of the council at various times, the leaders of our dear community at different levels and sectors, and the entire people of our great community, I say a big thank you to you all for the supports you accorded my administration.
“It’s God’s doing that I was elected the council’s Chairman in the first place. I thank God Almighty, and the electorate for making it possible.
“I am eternally grateful to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and my godfather, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa. He is the architect of it all.
“My gratitude also goes to my colleague in Orile-Agege, Pastor JS Babatunde, the leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress in both councils, and the entire members.
“My people, my people, have the assurance that that my successor and that of my Orile-Agege counterpart have the capacities to take both council areas to new heights.
“It is now time for me to move on to new things; and be referred to as former Chairman.
“Ohun to n tan l’odun eegun! My people, my festival has ended. I leave the stage with the knowledge that you are divided in your opinions about my performance in office. Let the debate continues. See you in the streets.
