In a move that yet again confirms its unwavering commitment to youth development and empowerment, the Lagos State government has sent youth ambassadors on an all-expense paid study trip to Canada.
Notable among the young individuals is the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan, MNSE as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on youth mobilization, Hon. Opeyemi Alabi among others.
The trip organised by the ministry of Youth and Social Development was facilitated by the Commissioner, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende and Permanent Secretary Pharm. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu.
The two weeks trips will afford the young and promising Lagos youths the opportunity to explore the major educational landmarks such as the prestigious Queen’s University, engage in cultural exchange programs among other fascinating activities in the North-American country.
In a post on Friday, Adigun expressed gratitude to the state government through the ministry of youth and social development for its continuous huge investment in youth human-capital development as he promised to make the most of the visit.
“I am deeply honoured to be part of this transformative opportunity made possible by the visionary leadership of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This trip is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the state’s dedication to building globally competitive youths. I am confident that the experiences, knowledge, and networks we will gain here in Canada will significantly contribute to our individual growth and ultimately, to the development of Lagos State,” Adigun said.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to using the knowledge acquired during the study visit to strengthen youth-led initiatives and foster development partnerships across various sectors back home.
The delegation, which includes select youth leaders and change agents from across the state, is expected to return to Nigeria later this month.
The Lagos State Government’s continued investment in international exposure and advanced learning opportunities for young people aligns with the THEMES+ development agenda, particularly in the area of Education and Technology.
