A one-time political alter ego of President Bola Tinubu and former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has finally come out to show where he belongs having now formally emerged as the scribe of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the opposition coalition platform with the tall goal of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Aregbesola who, hitherto, has been playing a hide and seek game emerged ADC national secretary just as former Senate President, David Mark, emerged interim national chairman of the coalition peopled by disgruntled politicians.
Also, veteran journalist and former sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi will serve as publicity secretary of the yet-to-be registered party.
The leaders emerged at a meeting held on Tuesday at the Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja and it was attended by some of the leading critical elements in the country drawn from all political tendencies including the APC, PDP and Labour Party. Among those present were Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Abubakar Malami.
Also present were former APC chiefs Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir El-Rufai, former APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former Governor Liyel Imoke, former Governor Aminu Tambuwal among many others.
While the meeting progressed with David Mark presiding when it came to the election of protem officers, the former Senate President stepped aside as Atiku Abubakar took over given that he, Mark had been nominated.
Under Atiku’s guidance, David Mark and other officers were elected by the gathering to lead the ADC.
