In 1978, Drum magazine published the story of identical Nigerian twins, Kehinde and Taiwo Ogundipe, who were married to the same woman and even had a child with her.

At the time of the report, their wife, Patricia, had already given birth to a baby boy named Noah.

In their words: “Our decision to get married to one wife was to prove to the world and Nigerians in particular that just as one man can marry many wives, twins can justify their oneness by owning things in common. God made us to be one in whatever we do.”

Their unusual union was rooted in their cultural beliefs that twins are spiritually connected and meant to walk through life as one.
