Abimbola Odunmbaku, wife of the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, on Thursday led her counterparts from across the state under the umbrella of Lagos State Council Chairmen Wives Association held to organise empowerment programme for women, youth and indigent residents across in Ojodu, Ikeja and Onigbongbo council areas.

The event, jointly hosted by Odunmbaku and her counterparts from Onigbongbo and Ikeja council areas was held on the premises of Ikeja Local Government.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the distribution of empowerment items to 50 beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries received 5 industrial sewing machines, 5 deep freezers and business support grants of N100,000 each. In addition, 5 wheelchairs and N50,000 each were donated to children with special needs while 250,000 Naira as well varieties of food items and household essentials were presented to Super Parents Foundation, a non-governmental organization located at 44, Shonola Street in Aguda, Ogba working with less privileged children.

At the event which had political leaders, government officials and women groups in attendance, Odunmbaku noted that the initiative was designed to empower widows, single mothers and artisans residing in Ojodu LCDA, particularly the less privileged ones to equip them with the necessary tools to improve their livelihoods and provide for their families.

Also in attendance at the event were the Executive Chairman of Ikeja LGA, Engr. Mojeed Balogun; the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Olusegun Odunmbaku and the Chairperson of Onigbongbo LCDA, Barr. Reqiya Hassan who all commended the association for their unwavering commitment and supportive roles in grassroots governance and community development.
