President William Ruto, on Monday, bestowed African Development Bank (AfDB) president Akinwumi Adesina with Kenya’s highest honour, the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.).

Adesina was decorated with Kenya’s highest national honour by Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

“We celebrate AfDB’s bold and visionary leadership, particularly Dr. @akin_adesina, for facilitating Kenya—and Africa—to unlock its potential and improve people’s lives,” Mr Ruto said in a tweet, moments after decorating Mr. Adesina “with the First Class: Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.).”

According to Ruto, the bank has not only accelerated universal electricity access, strengthened food security, and promoted infrastructure development, but has also deepened regional integration.

Adesina, in a tweet on Monday, appreciated Ruto for the honour, saying, “Thank you very much, Y.E. @WilliamsRuto, President of the Republic of Kenya, for the exceptional honor of conferring on me the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.), Kenya’s highest national distinction and honor. I am most humbled and grateful. Asante Sana!”
