On the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day, the Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Olusegun Odunmbaku has celebrated women in the council area and their counterparts across the state.
He observed that this year’s celebration is yet another avenue to reemphasise the need to break barriers, promote inclusivity and advance gender equality in the world.
He added that his administration is cognizant of the all-important role women plays in the society hence his unwavering commitment to their self-reliance and overall well-being adding that he will not relent on his oars.
“At Ojodu LCDA, we recognize that empowering women is key to social and economic growth. That is why our administration has been deliberate in implementing programmes that enhance our women’s self-reliance and overall well-being. Through various skills acquisition programmes and the provision of toolkits, we have equipped women with resources to build sustainable businesses. Widows have also received empowerment support to improve their livelihoods,” the statement read in part.
The council boss added that: “In education and health, we have provided Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities at Secondary Schools, ensuring better conditions for young girls. Additionally, we have donated material kits to nursing mothers and facilitated funding for market women, helping them expand their businesses and contribute to economic growth.
“As we celebrate International Women’s Day and reaffirm our commitment to women development, Let us continue to work together to create an inclusive society where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, contribute and lead.
