But as someone who has been covering Apple for nearly a decade, I’m here to tell you to save some cash and go with an older MacBook instead. Not everyone needs the latest and greatest laptop, especially when Amazon is offering the best price ever on the Apple MacBook Air M2 at $300 off.
One of the best MacBook deals I’ve tracked just went live after Apple revealed its newest laptop. It’s $50 under the previous discount I shared last month and matches the best price ever last spotted on Black Friday.
Apple’s MacBook Air M2 starts at $699 at Amazon, saving you $300. Today’s deal applies to two colors of the 256GB storage capacity, including Space Gray and Starlight. What makes this an even better value is that Amazon is discounting the elevated model with 16GB of memory. Memory is often one of the major factors at play for aging tech, at least when it comes to sluggish performance and slow loading times. The extra RAM in these MacBooks means that you’re buying a laptop that’s built to last even longer.

But just because it makes some of the longest-lasting laptops around doesn’t mean you have to pay full price. The MacBook Air M2 in particular is a great example of how buying an older model can be a far better value than the latest and greatest version.
So, while the newer MacBook Air M3 is our current top contender for the best laptop, today’s offer is a far better budget pick, especially with a full $300 in savings compared to the even more recent MacBook Air M4 revealed earlier this week.
