The death has sadly occurred of the former chairman of Ifako/Ijaiye LG, Special Apostle Oloruntoba Oke.

He passed away at the age of 65.

Theliberationnews gathered that Oke was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Friday, February 7, 2025, due to complications from liver problem and sadly passed away on Sunday, February 9.

A two-term local government chairman, Oke had battled the disease for several years before his demise.

Prior to venturing into politics, he worked with African Independent Television (AIT) and was once associated with veteran musician, Sir Shina Peters during the ‘Asiko Youth’ era.

Oke is best remembered for his contributions to the development of Ifako/Ijaiye, notably overseeing the construction of the council’s secretariat at Idiagbon Bus Stop, along College Road, Ogba, before handing over to his successor.

News of his passing has left residents in shock, with many mourning the loss of a leader, who played a pivotal role in the community’s growth.
