The Directorate of Education and Training under the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, on Saturday, 15th February 2025, doled out the first set of free UTME forms to beneficiaries who excelled in the screening exercise.
During the event held at Lagos Youth House, Yaba, Lagos, Chairman of the youth body, Engineer Adigun Ibrahim, encouraged the students to stay committed and achieve excellent results in the forthcoming examination.
Adigun explained that the initiative was designed to encourage the students’ educational pursuits and revealed that scholarships would be available to those who achieve impressive results.
He also commended Hon. Adewale Temitope, the lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, along with other sponsors, for supporting the initiative.
While presenting the first batch of qualified students to the state chairman, the Director of the Directorate of Education and Training, Comrade Adeyemo Akeem, emphasized that the program is aimed at supporting students who lack access to these opportunities and are eager to achieve their academic goals.
Before the distribution of the UTME forms, an orientation program was held for the students, where experts in various academic fields provided information on courses of choice, admission requirements for different institutions, and other available opportunities.
The State Program Officer 2, Comrade Marthins, commended the Directorate for organizing the first edition of the program and congratulated the beneficiaries on behalf of the council.
One of the beneficiaries, Master Ogundepo Michael Oluwadamilare, expressed his gratitude to the state council for organizing the impactful program. He shared his excitement, promising not only to sit for the exam but to achieve high marks.
Another beneficiary, Folorunsho Ahmad, stated that he would explore other training opportunities organized by the state through the Directorate of Education and Training.
