The embattled speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa has broken silence on his removal, saying the process failed to follow constitutional and in-house rules procedure.
Obasa, who returned to Lagos today to the cheering of his teeming supporters, said it was important for the lawmakers to “follow constitutional procedure” to remove him as speaker.
Reacting to allegations of multibillion naira corruption levelled against him as part of the reasons for his removal, Obasa described the alleged financial misappropriations as “impossible.”
“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” Obasa said of the “Developments that happened at the assembly.”
Obasa spoke to a huge crowd of supporters at the Speaker’s Lodge, 47, GRA Ikeja Lagos.
Following Obasa’s removal while he was away in the United States of America, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda from Apapa 01 Constituency was sworn-in as the new Speaker. Meranda was the deputy speaker to Obasa.
