The Director of Equatorial Guinea’s National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF), Baltasar Engonga, has reacted to the grave allegations regarding a sex scandal involving numerous private recordings.
Theliberationnews reported Engonga’s sexcapades which are recorded reportedly include videos of Engonga in sex acts with high-profile individuals, such as relatives of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The scandal surfaced during a fraud investigation into Engonga’s activities, during which investigators claimed to have found over 400 explicit videos on his computer.
The videos which are now ubiquitous are said to feature members of Equatorial Guinea’s elite, including the president’s sister and other close relatives of government officials involved in sex acts with Engonga. The public reaction to these recordings has been one of outrage, leading to intense scrutiny of the country’s top anti-corruption official.
Responding to the allegations, Engonga took to the social media platform X, to deny the veracity of the videos. He suggested that the scandal was the result of efforts by “enemies” trying to damage his reputation. The 54-year-old official also dismissed rumors linking one of the alleged victims to a recent suicide, calling them false.
“I want to tell the people of Equatorial Guinea that those videos are AI edited. My enemies are trying so hard to bring me down,” he stated. He also urged people to “ignore the rumors about someone’s death linked to the leaked videos. They’re unfounded,” he added.
Engonga in dismissing the sex scandal, expressed pride in his family, stating, “I only have one wife and my six children. They keep me going. We are a happy family. They are my everything. If anything ever happens, you are strong enough to guide our children through anything. I trust you completely. You are not just my wife, but my hero,” he said.
