Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, MFR, is known globally, and especially in Lagos political circles, by the sobriquet ‘Baba Eto’ and sometimes hailed vice versa as ‘Eto Baba.’ Hé is a staunch political ally/faithful adherent of the president and commander-in-chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Baba Eto means many things to so many people. To the president, he is a reliable, faithful and dependable political follower; to political associates, he is indeed a grand political master planner, especially when it comes to political mobilization; to the hoi poloi in the society, he is a father figure and a solid philanthropist. Eto Baba is a dependable party man, who is most times selfless in his pursuits of Asíwájú’s political party goals, ideals and instructions.
However, before Almighty God, Baba Eto is a devoted Christian, a prophet in the House of God who has devoted his hard-earned wealth to promoting the gospel and impeccable name of the creator of the entire universe.
This adorable man of God is admirably a good husband to his wives. However, not many, because of Baba Eto’s commitment to Lagos’s political struggles, realize that he is a strong family man. He can go to any length to protect and provide for his family members, without lagging in his societal obligations.
Mrs Funke Adepoju, née Odunmbaku, currently the amiable Executive Secretary of Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission and Honorable Segun Odunmbaku, the hardworking incumbent chairman of Ojudu LCDA amongst others are proud offsprings of the astute politician who can vouch for his fatherly love and affection, anytime and day. His daughter in law, Abimbola Odunmbaku, née Adeoye, does not joke with Baba Eto’s issues and well-being with undiluted reciprocity from the great politician as well.
Eto Baba’s grandchildren are equally fond of him because, in his fatherly eyes, they’re special gifts that can do no wrong. That is the vintage family man in the great man @ 78.
