The Lagos State Government has announced a three-month extension of its work-from-home policy for state civil servants.

The decision, approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was communicated in a circular signed by the state Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, on Wednesday.

Theliberationnews reported that the work-from-home policy, initially introduced on February 28, allows workers on grade levels 01 to 14 to work remotely for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 can work from home for one day a week. The decision was made to help reduce the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy on state workers.

According to the circular, Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the policy had made positive impacts on workers’ productivity in the various ministries, departments, and agencies of the state government. This observation played a role in the decision to extend the policy.

The three-month extension of the work-from-home policy took effect from September 4, 2024. The Lagos State Government remains committed to supporting its workers and ensuring their well-being while maintaining productivity across its various agencies.

The extension of the work-from-home policy is expected to continue alleviating the challenges faced by state workers in the wake of the fuel subsidy removal, while also sustaining the positive effects on productivity witnessed since the policy’s introduction.
