British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury has reacted to Anthony Joshua’s recent defeat to Daniel Dubois in Saturday’s heavyweight bout.
Fury acknowledged that he, too, could have suffered a similar upset, following Joshua’s surprising loss to Dubois at Wembley.
Recall Dubois secured a stunning victory, knocking out Joshua in five rounds.
Joshua had entered the fight as the clear favorite, defending his IBF heavyweight title for the first time.
However, the 34-year-old now faces growing calls to consider retirement after his unexpected loss to the 27-year-old Dubois
Reacting, Fury, who was sat ringside at Wembley, said after the fight: “He [Dubois] did a very good job and fair play to young Dan.
“Everybody wrote him off, you know. Coming here he was the world champion and everybody treated him like he was a bum and he showed what he is made of and it’s very good for him, fantastic, fair play.”
On Joshua, he said, “It’s heavyweight boxing, it happens, it happened to me, it can happen to everybody.”
