Thousands of residents of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) were all happy on Thursday as they made the most of yet another palliative measure of the council boss, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, aimed at mitigating the unintended hardship occasioned by federal economic reforms.

The subsidized food sales initiative tagged: ‘1K Everything’ featured sales of essential household items such as rice, garri, egg, and beans among others at an unbeatable price of N1,000 each.

At the event held on the council premises, 5 kilograms of rice, garri, pepper, bell pepper, Onion, meat, big tuber of yam, complete chicken, 3 kilograms of beans, 2.5kg of groundnut oil, and palm oil as well as crate of eggs among others were sold at N1,000 each to over 2,500 residents.

Addressing the highly-elated shoppers, Odunmbaku made it known that the event which is the second in recent times was part of his administration’s efforts to effectively and sustainably mitigate the accompanying but temporary hardship of the federal government’s ongoing economic reforms.

He added that Thursday’s event lends credence to his administration’s sincerity of purpose in ensuring that residents of the council area are not severely hit by the momentary hardship as he listed other far-reaching social intervention programs he has undertaken to include Free Bus Ride, regular “See A Doctor” medical program, financial aid to indigent residents among others.

He assured that his administration remains committed to making life more meaningful for residents promising that he will not rest on his oars in complementing federal and state governments’ efforts in the area of social intervention and governance in general.

The buyers all of whom could not contain their excitement at the ‘giveaway’ price at which the highly-expensive items were sold were full of praises for the council boss with many offering heartfelt prayers for his continued success at the saddle.

“The joy in my heart knows no bound because of what I’ve been able to buy with just 1k. This is unbelievable and I want to sincerely appreciate our chairman for this initiative. I didn’t benefit from the first one and i am a proud beneficiary now. The food items will last my family for some weeks,” enthused one of the shoppers, Shade Busari.

“What can I say then to pray for our chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku for putting this up again. I have bought enough rice, beans, pepper with just N3,000. This is unbeatable! Hon. Odunmbaku will never fall in Jesus’ name,” another beneficiary remarked.
