Taking its commitment to civic engagement further, the leadership and members of National Council Of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) Lagos State, last Tuesday visited the hallowed chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly to observe the plenary and strategically engaged the lawmakers on contemporary issues.

The visitation, as contained in a press statement issued by the council’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Bro. Akeem Adeyemo, was a milestone in the organization’s commitment to civic engagement and youth empowerment.

The visiting organization was warmly received by the legislative state of the assembly who provided the delegation with profound insight into the legislative process, showcasing the dedication of the lawmakers in shaping policies and laws.

As contained in the statement, the Speaker,Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa also welcomed and thumbed up the 40-man NACOMYO delegation led by Engr. Salami Isiaka and Bar. Abd’Wasiu Olasupo as well as other guests.

Adeyemo recalled that the plenary provided the group with firsthand experience of the legislative activities and the qualitative leadership of the speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

The council’s spokesman added that the delegation observed as the house deliberated on ways to tame the tide of the recent cholera outbreak in the state as well as debate on Lagos Electric Power Sector Reform.

One of the major highlights of the group’s visit was the presentation of award to the speaker for his exemplary leadership and raising the bar of lawmaking beyond common standard of excellence.

The Scribe of the organisation, Bro. Muritala Adejumo led a brief engagement with the Majority Leader of the house Hon. Adam, Hon. Aina Musibau chairman house committee on health and Hon. Jubril Kareem Chairman House committee on Homes and religious affairs which was a remarkable opportunity for NACOMYO to share perspectives, exchange ideas, and foster constructive dialogue on matters of mutual concern. The discussions with the legislators exemplified the commitment of NACOMYO to actively participate in the democratic process, amplifying the voices and aspirations of the Muslim youth community.

Adeyemo noted that the historic visit by council to the Lagos State House of Assembly will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for continued collaboration between the organization and the legislative body.

He conveyed his conviction that the visit will “further reinforces the importance of active citizenship, youth participation, and the crucial role of engaging with policymakers to effect positive change. as it also target at bringing the youth closer to the government”

Adeyemo quoted the state coordinator Engr.
