Engr. Adigun Ibrahim has promised to hit the ground running to deliver on his campaign promises following his emergence as the chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigerian (NYCN) Lagos State Chapter.

Adigun was declared winner of the elective congress on Tuesday, by the chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Adekunle Saliu.

The historical event was held at Centre Management Development (CMD), Ikosi-Isheri, Lagos.

Adekunle announced that Adigun’s emergence was upon ratification and the withdrawal of Teslim Olusi from the chairmanship race.

It was observed that despite the ratification and Olusi’s decision to step down, the election was held as expected with the delegates expressing their sentiments for Adigun.

The congress signaled the end of the Comrade Lekan Biliamin Oba-led state executive council heralding the four-year tenure of the new executives.

Adigun described his emergence as the true reflection of the desire of the over 400 delegates, coordinators of the 57 local branches across the state as well as heads of various affiliated organizations.

He commended the electoral committee and the congress planning committee for the success of the exercise as he acknowledged the efforts of the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, Mr Obafemi Hamzat as well as the speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Mr. Seyi Tinubu and the National President of the youth body; Comrade Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sokubo among others for ensuring a rancour-free congress.

Speaking about his plans, Adigun reiterated his cognizance of the huge responsibility the mandate has placed on him assuring to live up to the expectations of his new office.

His words: “I assure you that I do not take this responsibility lightly. I am committed to walking the talk on my campaign promises enshrined in the encompassing #P3Agenda which stands for Productivity, Professionalism and Publicity therefore serving with integrity, transparency, and inclusivity, ensuring that every voice within our diverse youth community is heard and valued.”

Speaking further the new Lagos NYCN Boss said: “Lagos is our heritage, as as the foremost youth organization, we will do well to protect, defend and promote this heritage to ensure ensure that Lagos remains a model state for others.

“As we embark on this journey together, I am acutely aware of the challenges that lie ahead. Our youth face myriad issues, from unemployment to the need for greater civic engagement. These are not just challenges; they are opportunities for us to effect positive change. Together, we will work tirelessly to address these issues, working hand-in-hand with the state government and other revelant stakeholders, advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being and advancement of every young person in Lagos State.

“To the youth of Lagos State, I say this it is time for positive resurgence: you are the heartbeat of our future. Your passion, creativity, and resilience are our greatest assets. I pledge to amplify your voices, to champion your causes, and to create opportunities that empower each of you to thrive. Together, we will harness the transformative power of unity and collaboration, ensuring that our collective efforts yield tangible, lasting benefits for all.”

Adigun who doubles as the coordinator of NYCN Odi-Olowo and the LA Chairman of Scout, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Association, Mushin Division will paddle the affairs of the youths’ umbrella body alongside other individuals drawn from various organizations and local branches across the state.
