Barely two months after his appointment as the head coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George has resigned.

Theliberationnews observed that his resignation came after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced that it would appoint a foreign coach to support him in carrying out his job.

The NFF and the Minister for sports summoned Finidi to a meeting earlier this week after he lost to Benin Republic in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers, denying Nigeria of a smooth sail to securing a place in the world cup.

George, a former Nigerian international and member of the iconic 1994 Super Eagles squad that won the nation’s second African Cup of Nations title took over as head coach last month.

The NFF had confirmed the search for a foreign Technical Adviser following a poor run in the WCQ.

No official statement has been released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to validate the story.

Finidi George had yet to confirm his resignation.

The 53-year-old was appointed on the 29th of April ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
