Engr. Adigun Ibrahim has formally declared his interest in the exalted chairmanship seat of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter.

Adigun made his intention known on Thursday at a press conference held at the multi-purpose hall of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA secretariat, Townplanning Way, Ilupeju.

The chairmanship hopeful stated that his aspiration is driven by: “a crystal vision for an empowered and united youth community, committed to professionalism, productivity, and better positioning as encapsulated in my P3 Agenda, which forms my social contract with energetic Lagos youth.”

Adigun, who is the incumbent coordinator of NYCN, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye local branch, assured that he would replicate his remarkable grassroots projects at the state level for the betterment of youths across the state.

He promised to complement and work in tandem with the state government to make life more meaningful for the state’s youths by undertaking human capital development programs, among others.

“My administration will actively create entrepreneurial opportunities for our members, promote self-reliance, enhance human capital development, and ultimately contribute to nation-building, especially in the economic sphere.”

Speaking further, Adigun, a one-time speaker of the Lagos State University Student Parliamentary Council, added, “By leading with professionalism, we aim to set standards that will elevate our state chapter as a model for excellence not only for our local branches and affiliated voluntary youth organizations but also for other chapters across the country.”

“As I embark on this journey, my commitment to the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter is resolute. I believe that a united, professional, and productive youth community can bring about transformative change.”

While acknowledging the support of leaders and stakeholders of the youth body from far and near, Adigun appealed for continued support for his emergence at the state elective congress, scheduled to be held between Friday, 5th July, and Sunday, 7th July 2024.

Earlier, the outgoing Vice Chairman NYCN Lagos West, Comrade Jamiu Ademosu, the outgoing publicity secretary, Comrade Idris Ajala, emeritus state chairman, Comrade Olayinla Oresile, coordinators of the 28 local branches under Lagos West, as well as heads of various community-based organizations and Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYO), declared their support for Adigun’s aspiration, vowing to work for his anticipated emergence.

Other major highlights of the event included the launch of the campaign teamad and the presentation of branded baseball caps by a support group; AIO Crusaders.

With the leaders and stakeholders from Lagos West backing Adigun’s aspiration, the senatorial district will be going into the congress with a united front, unlike in 2020, when multiple aspirants flagged the district’s ticket, with none emerging victorious.

Owing to his impressive track record, proven capabilities, and growing popularity, Adigun is tipped to emerge victorious in the Congress and eventually take the baton of leadership from Comrade Biliamin Oba, whose tenure will elapse on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024.
