This year’s Children’s Day celebration came early for teens in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA as Ilupeju Youth Forum organised a lavish Children’s Day funfair.
The year’s edition is the third of its kind put together by the forum and it was aimed at celebrating the children and fostering community spirit.
Held on Saturday at the Kossy Bethel Primary School, the event featured a variety of activities including bouncy castle, face painting competition, music, among others.
One of the attendees, 13-year-old Adunni Adeyemi, expressed her excitement, saying, “This is the best Children’s Day I’ve ever had. I loved the games and I even won a prize for my dancing skill!”
The forum’s coordinator/convener, Comrade Olayinka Dolapo Faruq (ODF) in his speech, highlighted the importance of such events in bringing the community together and providing memorable experiences for the children whom he described as the leaders of tomorrow.
He commended the chairman of the planning committee, Emeagwai Azubuike Shola, for the excellent organization as he encouraged other organizations to join in supporting initiatives that benefit children and youths.
Speaking on the sideline, the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch, Engineer Adigun Ibrahim, MNSE, lauded the forum for sustaining the initiative over the years as he congratulated the children.
“It’s commendable seeing that Ilupeju Youth forum is organizing this event yet again. This is the third edition and you can see the number of children here. They’ve come to celebrate and have fun. This is the kind of bond and spirit we are fostering in our local branch.
“As a matter of fact, our generation is the connection between the children and the elderly, we must fulfill our duty of making them happy and passing knowledge to them. I commend the convener, Comrade Olayinka Dolapo Faruq (ODF) for putting up this year’a edition and also ensuring that it gets better year-after-year. The children are already have a memorable children’s day celebration but it’s not out of place to congratulate them, Happy Children’s day,” Adigun remarked.
