The members of Cross River State House of Assembly has impeached the speaker of the assembly, Elvert Ekom Ayambem.
It was gathered that the Speaker was impeached by 17 members of the house on Wednesday over allegations of financial misappropriation.
Theliberationnews gathered that the impeachment was made due to the motion which was moved by Effiom Ekarika representing Calabar South 1 Constituency and seconded by Hon. Omang Charles Omang representing Bekwarra State Constituency.
Hon Elvert Ayambem was elected Speaker of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly in June 2023.
Ayambem represents Ikom 2 State Constituency in the Houses of Assembly.
