The leading aspirant for the chairmanship position of the Lagos state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, on Sunday, consulted with leaders and stakeholders of the youth body in Alimosho Local Government Area.
Adigun’s meeting with the leaders which comprised the incumbent coordinators across the local branches under the LGA, and other stakeholders was in continuation of his consultative tour to share his lofty plans for the youth structure with relevant stakeholders.
Adigun who was homely welcome into the gathering appreciated his host for what he described as a great opportunity to meet with them.
During his remarks, the incumbent coordinator of NYCN, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye local branch shared his vision for the youth council as encapsulated in his P3 Agenda with his host.
Adigun, an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos State University and erstwhile speaker of the Students Parliamentary Council (SPC) of the institution emphasized the need for improved inclusivity and empowerment programs tailored to the needs of young people in Lagos as he outlined his plans for improving youth positive participation in social activities and sustainably addressing pressing issues such as talent discovery, unemployment and skills development.
Adigun recalled his previous activities in the youth space which he said included chairing the planning committee that organized the maiden Youth and Governance Symposium in the build-up to the 2023 general election wherein no fewer than 3,000 individuals, government functionaries, and dignitaries from across Lagos State and beyond were in attendance.
He mentioned the successful planning and execution of the maiden award ceremony; The Plaudit, where past and present leaders of the youth body across the state were recognized for deserved celebration.
Highlighting some of his achievement in his local branch, Adigun mentioned the creation of web portal, empowerment program for girls in ICT and quarterly breakfast session to brainstorm and proffer lasting solutions to social issue in the council area among others.
He assured that these and more will be replicated at the state level when elected.
He reiterated that his aspiration was borne out of his desire to ensure that the state chapter remains a pacesetter and model for others across the federation by ensuring professionalism in its activities, helping the youth to be productive, and ensuring effective media promotion of its activities for transparency and accountability.
On their part, the leaders and coordinators took turns to commend Adigun for his great plans for the youth body as they offered advice, prayers as well as support for his anticipated emergence.
