The Chief Press Secretary from the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) under the aegis of Conference57 CPS has condemned bloggers who peddle negative reports about local government activities in the state.
In a press statement signed by its chairman, Ayodele Ayeyemi, the body, in strong terms, expressed concern about the proliferation of baseless rankings by what it called faceless and unprofessional bloggers.
The group’s reaction may not be unconnected from the recent rankings made by an online blog, Lagos Reporters. The medium, without due diligence, subjectively did rankings of the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in the state thereby inciting some residents against their council chairmen.
The statement read: “Today, we address a grave concern that threatens the very fabric of our democratic values: the proliferation of baseless rankings by faceless and unprofessional bloggers. We, the Conference57 Chief Press Secretaries (CPS) representing the 57 Council Chairmen in Lagos State, unequivocally condemn these bloggers as nothing more than agents of opposition parties and enemies of progressive democracy.
“These bloggers, driven by ulterior motives and a blatant disregard for truth, seek to undermine the hard-earned reputation of our respected Chairmen. They peddle lies and misinformation, masquerading as champions of transparency while serving their own selfish interests. We refuse to let their deceitful narratives go unchallenged.
“The Conference57 CPS stands as a bastion of truth and integrity, firmly rejecting these spurious rankings as mere attempts to seek attention and sow discord. We, who work closely with our Chairmen on a daily basis, know them better than anyone else. We are not mere observers; we are active participants in their projects, initiatives, and programmes.
“Let us not forget the visionary leadership of former Governor of Lagos State and Nigerians President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose blueprint for the administration of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) serves as a model for grassroots management across Africa. Under this framework, our proactive Council bosses in Lagos State are diligently meeting the needs of the grassroots, prioritizing essentials such as healthcare facilities over other infrastructural developments.
“In conclusion, we proudly declare that Lagos State’s grassroots thrives under the leadership of the best set of 57 Council Chairmen, with Hon. (Barr.) Alabi Kolade David at the helm, supported by the tireless efforts of workaholic Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. Let us unite against the deceptive tactics of faceless bloggers and stand together in defense of truth and progress. Thank you.”
