The chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Odunmbaku has reaffirmed his commitment to changing the narrative of governance and raising the bar of grassroots administration in his council area for the benefits of residents.
Odunmbaku gave the assurance on Thursday during a parley he had with pressmen where he showcased the achievements of his adminstration since he assumed office in July 2021.
During the media parley, Odunmbaku outlined some of the key achievements as encapsulated by his Health, Education, Youth and Women Development and Social and Infrastructural Development (H.E.Y.S) Agenda which is in tandem with the THEMES+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government to aid intergovernmental collaborations for development, as well as the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) .
According to the council boss, the media parley which he carries out often is one of the ways he seeks to promote accountability and keep the residents abreast with his giant strides and what more to expect.
Odunmbaku highlighted the construction and renovation of several roads including Fadeyi Street, Paul Avenue and Umaru Saro Drive, he also mentioned upgrading of primary healthcare centers including provision of alternative energy to boost healthcare services, regular free medical/surgical interventions and health insurance for 1000 residents, donation of Jamb and GCE Forms with coaching classes, 600 sets of furniture and 50,000 books to primary and junior schools to cater to the educational needs of the community.
Additionally, the Chairman listed initiatives executed towards improving the standard of living for the residents of Ojodu LCDA, such as grants and loans for small businesses, provision of palliatives like free buses and subsidised food, bursary and scholarships for indigent students, cash empowerments for micro traders, supports for the senior citizens and persons living with disabilities, and vocational trainings for youths.
While responding to the journalists’ enquires about infrastructural development, Hon. Odunmbaku reiterated his administration’s commitment to the construction and completion of the proposed Eweobaja market, Recreational Centre, mini general hospital at Ogba and other people-centric social infrastructure for the betterment of the good people of Ojodu LCDA.
Speaking further, Odunmbaku reaffirmed his administration’s commitment towards inclusive and open-door governance by partnering with well meaning individuals, corporate and charitable organizations to cater for myriad of needs of the people.
“Organizations such as Kennols, Lions Club, Rotary Club, WaterAid etc, have partnered with us to carry out various projects, complementing the efforts of our administration”, Hon. Odunmbaku said.
Secretary To The Local Government, Hon Olaide John Bello appreciated the media personalities for gracing the parley while restating the commitments made by Ojodu LCDA Mayor to improve the overall well-being of the residents.
