The Chairperson of Ojodu LCDA, Mrs Abimbola Odunmbaku has advocated for more investment in women for accelerated progress in the country.
Odunmbaku made the call during a one-day advocacy program for gender inclusion and women entrepreneurship held in conjunction with the Federation Of ECOWAS Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) on the council premises on Wednesday.
The event was put together as part of activities to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day in the council area.
This year’s theme is “Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress.”
In her remarks, the council’s first lady explained that women’s inclusion in governance and overall empowerment is one of the agenda of her husband, Olusegun Odunmbaku’s administration.
The event aimed to empower women in Ojodu LCDA and encourage their active participation in business and social development.
Odunmbaku who was inaugurated as a member of FEBWE said empowering women in entrepreneurship, as well as ensuring gender equality breaks barriers that hinder the progress of women in socio-economic activities and opens up a future where every woman can thrive as an entrepreneur, innovator, and leader.
The seminar featured various presentations from FEBWE and other notable individuals like the Consular General of Ghana Mrs Samantha Gift Bukhari who shared their knowledge and experience on women empowerment, gender equality, and entrepreneurship.
Bukhari and the National Coordinator of FEBWE, Mrs Omotola Omole also highlighted the importance of gender inclusion in all aspects of society, from education to employment and leadership, as the stressed the need for equal opportunities for women and the recognition of their contributions to the community’s progress.
