The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye local branch, Lagos State has launched its much-talked-about web portal.

The portal Our Web Portal, https://nycnodiolowoojuwoye.org/# was launched on Friday at the monthly management meeting of the youth body held on Thursday making the local branch the first to fully digitalise its activities.

Taking the veil off on the web portal, the deputy coordinator Okeyale Zakriyah who presided over the meeting in the stead of the coordinator, Engr Adigun Ibrahim described the website as a one-stop world-class web portal that will further enhance the activity of the youth organisation.

Zakriyah recalled that the web portal was one of the campaign manifestoes of the Adigun-led administration as he expressed his delight to see the project come to fruition.

To the admiration of other members of the management team in attendance, the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Olumide Adenekan analyzed the features and uniqueness of the website noting that it will greatly revolutionise the activities of the local branch.

He highlighted that the website, “Is the first website developed by any youth organization local branch in Nigeria. The Website is simple, user-friendly and responsive with high page speed. The website asides displaying the full name and images of the executives, it also provides a designated functional email address to each executive of the local branch for easier direct official correspondence.”

He added that “The website has an event log portal where every committee saddled with a project or program can promptly upload details of the program for easier and faster reportage. The website also has an interactive map or Street View panorama of the location of the local branch. This embedded map will make visitors easily navigate and discover where the local branch is situated. The social media handles of the local branch are well integrated on the website. With just a click on the specific social media icon, the website redirects the user to its media page.”

Speaking further, Olumide noted that, “The website has a blog page where the local branch news and different contents within the scope of the youth council can be published. Not every member will be available for the various programmes of the local branch. Hence, the website has an embedded YouTube channel that showcases all events of the local branch. The website also has a live streaming portal for visitors to stream live events organized by the local branch. Saving the best for the last the website has a database portal where all affiliate members of the local branch can register and most importantly state their individual employment status. This portal will reveal the amount of unemployed youth and also depict the employability ratio of resident youths of the LCDA.”

After the unveiling the management team visited the council chairman, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, to formally inform him about the innovation.

The council boss who doubles as the grand patron of the local branch was joined by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) Hon. Mojeeb Daramola and the Council-Manager (CM) Mrs. Folakemi Otenaike to welcome them into his palatial office as they took turns to commend the local branch for what they described as “wonderful Development.”
