Theliberationnews reports that while the nation is yet to recover from the gruesome murder of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State by unrepentant gunmen, another traditional ruler has lost his life in their hands with his wife and two others kidnapped.

It was gathered that the incident happened late hours on Thursday night. According to reports, the the monarch who was identified as the Onikoro of Koro in Ekiti LGA of the state, was attacked and eventually killed in a failed kidnap attempt before he was shot dead.

The bandits kidnapped the wife of the monarch after dumping his corpse.

“The monarch was killed while his wife and others were moved away by (kidnapped) by the gunmen,” he said.

The spokesman for police in Kwara, Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, was yet to make a statement about the incident as of the time of filing this report and his contact could not be reached.

Confirming the incident, the state government described it as abominable as he charged the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

“Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condemned the killing of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti Local Government, HRH retd General Segun Aremu.

“The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.

”The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable.

“He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity. My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” the governor said in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
