Drawing the curtain on year 2023 after an unabated commitment to executing developmental programs and projects in the council area, Ojodu LCDA has, on Friday, kicked off its 2023 Carnival and sports fiesta.

The event aimed at showcasing and promoting local tourism and culture also includes subsidized sale of 5kg of rice cylinders to 1000 residents at the rate of 1000 Naira, says the council chairperson, Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku.

The sporting programmes began with an aerobics and fitness activity where participants performed a series of physical exercises before the main sports event which was a novelty football match between the Exco and Management Teams, the match witnessed a scintillating showcase of skills by both teams was won by the Exco Team and ended 2-O with the Mayor of Ojodu LCDA, Hon Segun Odunmbaku scoring the winning goal.

A Bazaar programme in which 1000 residents were given 5Kg of Rice at subsidized rate of 1000 Naira at the venue and a nanotraders empowerment programme by the Chairperson, Mrs Abimbola Odunmbaku in which she donated 50,000 Naira each to 100 petty traders was held as beneficiaries were full of praises while commending the administration of Hon Segun Odunmbaku for the progressive and inclusive governance that is uplifting the lives of the people in Ojodu LCDA.

It was gathered that the event will continue tomorrow with a raffle draw. The star prizes to be won include a Brand New Keke, Deep Freezer, 55-inch Television and many more consolation prizes as well as boxing exhibition matches, traditional masquerade displays, cultural performances and a main concert featuring Tuface, Pasuma, Small Doctor and other guest artistes.
