The Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku has doled out yet another impressive subsidy palliatives to resident widows of the council area to cushion the economic effect of fuel subsidy removal on them.

The Ojodu LCDA council secretariat, on Wednesday, became a behive of activities as a fresh initiative, Widow’s Food Bank, was organized as part of the Subsidy Removal palliatives measures by Odunmbaku.

The event, aimed at improving the conditions of widows and other vulnerable individuals in Ojodu and its surrounding areas is another remarkable feat by the chairman of the council.

At the event, widows were provided with packed free raw staple food items aimed at effectively reducing hunger and alleviating the current hardships being encountered by the low-income households in Ojodu LCDA.

This effort was undertaken to complement the initiatives of the Federal and state governments in addressing the challenges faced by these individuals.

Mrs. Abimbola Odunmbaku, the amiably approachable wife of Ojodu LCDA chair, in her remark emphasized that the Widow’s Food Bank Initiative was designed to promote the self-sustainability of the beneficiaries.

She further stated that the initiative aligns with the H.E.Y.S (Health, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure) Mission and the Sustainable Development Goals, serving as a means to realize the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every citizen enjoys the dividends of democracy and inclusive grassroots governance.

Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, Ojudu LCDA chair, in his goodwill message during the event, expressed his satisfaction with the increased number of beneficiaries compared to the previous year. The selection of beneficiaries was based on the recommendations of community stakeholders. He assured attendees that the number of beneficiaries would be further increased in future events, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to expanding the reach of the initiative.

“As the government closest to the masses, we can feel your plights in the face of the present economic realities. We assure you of our resolve to cater for your needs as much as possible. Previously, we supported 100 widows, today we are supporting 200 widows, next time, we shall provide for 300 widows. Likewise, it shall be a recurrent exercise”, the Chairman promised.

In attendance at the event were the Vice Chairman, Hon Bunmi Oluyadi, SLG Olaide Bello, Leader of the House, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, other Legislators and Executive Members, management staff, and Traditional leaders.

Recall, Theliberationnews reported that the council chairman recently launched Free Buses to aid the mobility of Ojodu residents and commendably sold foodstuff at subsidised amount to over 3,000 residents of the council area at N1 per item.
