Like the beneficiaries of the N1.5 million micro credit scheme executed by Rotary Club of Isolo, the Iyaloja of Obada Market, Isolo, Alhaja Wasilat Yusuf Saka, was full of praises to the club for carrying out yet another impactful project.
It was gathered that the service club has a history of executing programs and projects in furtherance of Rotary’s seven areas of purpose and has touched the lives of many in the process.
On Friday, August 11, 2023, a whopping sum of N1.5m was splashed on 30 market women with three indigent women smiling home with brand new grinding machines.
Alhaja Saka affirmed that Rotary Club of Isolo has helped sustain the businesses of many women in the community who solely depend on their petty trades for sustenance through the club’s micro credit scheme adding that if other clubs can emulate the club the world will be a better place.
The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, Ifeyinwa Ejezie who witnessed the disbursement exercise alongside the District Secretary, Tayo Adelaja and the Chief of Staff, Ezinne Obioha described the project as “highly commendable” adding that such is what Rotary is all about and globally known for.
According to the club’s president, Rotarian (Hajia) Abimbola Oseni the multi-million naira project was in furtherance of its commitment to upholding the goals of Rotary, especially as it has to do with Economic Empowerment and community development and ultimately sustain its culture of affecting lives positively.
The beneficiaries especially the three women who were empowered with grinding machines was full of emotions as they took turn to register that profound appreciation.
An icing on the cake for the highly-elated beneficiaries was the donation of N20,000 from Past Assistant Governor Ralph Abanum, a member of the club and Past Assistant Governor Charles Okonkwo, a member of Rotary Club of Ikoyi as startup capital support to them
It was gathered that the clippers, the club, in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Isolo led by, Rotaractor Damilola Kushimo also donated two clippers to two indigent and promising barbers in the community.
In addition, four industrial waste bins were donated to Isolo General Hospital in Isolo area of Lagos state, Nigeria. The waste bins were received by Dr. (Mrs.) Aderade Ijogun, the Medical Director, Mrs Lawal Adedoyin, the Hospital Administrator, and Mr Daudu James, the Head of Human Resources.
Also, the club in partnership with Sure Diagnostics Centre organized free medical tests for the general public.
