Borrowing the motto of the Scout Movement which says “Be Prepared”, the coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch, Comrade Adigun Ibrahim has urged members of the association in the council area to continually adhere to the Scout’s principles.
Adigun explained that the two-word sentence which encourages readiness in mind and body to do one’s duty was one of his philosophies while growing, even as a non-member of the paramilitary group.
He explained that it helped to establish his mental alertness, be disciplined and obedient to every order, and also sharpen his insight.
He delivered the speech at the district’s three-day second-class course ongoing at Holy Rosary Nursery & Primary School, Mabo Str, Ishaga Road Mushin, Lagos.
“Scout movement is one of the paramilitaries I grew up admiring because of what it stands for and the modus operandi. You should be proud of yourself for being a member or an intending member as the case may be. It’s a naked truth that one of what has sustained the uniqueness and sanctity of this noble organization is its motto which preaches readiness, alertness, discipline, and moral uprightness among others.
“By the virtue of my relationships with some scout members, the admirable discipline in them rubbed off on me and I can tell that it was one of what has shaped me into who I’m becoming in life. My message to you this afternoon is to sustain your adherence to the principles of the organisation not only to protect its sanctity but better your personal life,” the youth leader said.
Adigun lauded the district scout commissioner, Olaoye Gbenga for the program and the opportunity to address the scout as he promised his continued support for their activities and programs.
Another major highlight of the event was when Mr Bamidele Bello, Mushin Divisional Scout Commissioner, decorated Adigun the scout’s neckerchief as he hinted that a complete decoration would be done in due course.
Also in attendance at the event was Mr Ewetade Monsuru, District Scout Commissioner Oshodi Local Association and the Coordinator, NYCN Oshodi-Isolo Local Branch.
