Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, APC, Ekiti Central has been announced as the Senate Majority leader while former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume (APC) Borno South will serve as the Senate Chief Whip of the 10th Senate.
The announcements were made by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday following the resumption of plenary.
Reading the letter from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Akpabio also announced Senator Dave Umahi, APC, Ebonyi South as the Deputy Leader and Senator Lola Ashiru, APC, Kwara South as the Deputy Whip.
Theliberationnews gathered that Akpabio who entered the hallowed Chamber at 11.18 am, immediately prayed at 11,20am and asked Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, APC, Abia North to move for the adoption of Votes and Proceedings of 14th June and seconded by Senator Ezenwa, Imo East.
Meanwhile, Ex-Governor Nyesom Wike and his ally-turn-foe former Governor Aminu Tambuwal, have lost out in the supremacy battle for the leadership of the minority caucus of the senate.
It was gathered that While Wike, held a series of meetings with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, pushing for a particular senator, Tambuwal made known his interest in the minority leadership position.
But on Tuesday, Akpabio announced the new leaders of the minority caucus as follows:
