The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals due to hold in January 2024 in Cote d’Ivoire.

Their 3-2 victory against stubborn Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Sunday sealed their qualification for the continental competition.

Sensational Victor Osimhen had put the Super Eagles ahead with a brace within 32 minutes into the game before Mustapha Bundu pulled one back in the 41st minute and Augustus Kargbo lashed in the equaliser in the 84th minute

The game ended 2-2 in normal time but a goal from Kelechi Ihenacho five minutes into extra time gave Nigeria victory and condemned the Leone Stars to third position on the log.

With the victory, Nigeria has qualified for the tournament with a game in hand.
