Obasa Speaks On Assembly’s Priorities Upon Reelection As Speaker

Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has disclosed the priorities of the Lagos State House of Assembly following his reelection as the speaker for a historic third term.

Obasa, a sixth-term member, was elected to lead the 10th assembly on Tuesday, following his nomination by Hon. Temitope Adewale and unanimous acceptance of other members.

His emergence followed the proclamation of the 10th assembly by the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Speaking about the focus of the 10th assembly under his watch, Obasa, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, disclosed that the legislative arm and its 40 members will prioritize the welfare of their respective constituents and ensure that their needs are met.

He admitted that the responsibility is on the legislative arm to help the state harness its potential and better utilise them for the benefit of all and sundry, this he said the assembly will pursue tirelessly.

His words: “I promise to work tirelessly with my colleagues in the 10th Assembly to ensure that we continue to uphold the legacy of excellence for which the Lagos State House of Assembly is known.

“Under my leadership, the Lagos House of Assembly will operate an open and inclusive administration where all members will be carried along and given equal opportunity to contribute towards the development of the State.

“Lagos is a great state with even greater potential and we have a responsibility to harness these potentials and maximise them for the benefit of our people.

“We must prioritise the welfare of our constituents and ensure that our policies and legislative framework are geared towards meeting their needs.”

He described his victory at the polls and consequent emergence as the speaker as historic in the country as he appreciated the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the state governor and deputy, Mr. Babjide Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Obafemi Hamzat respectively, the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) as well as his constituents for their support.
