Gbajabiamila To Resign Reps Membership Today

Speaker of the Ninth House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila is expected to formally resign his membership of the 10th national assembly today following his appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Gbajabiamila who was inaugurated alongside other members of the 10th assembly on Tuesday is expected to make known his resignation on the floor of the green chamber during today’s preliminary.

His resignation is to allow him act in his new capacity as Chief of Staff to the President.

As expected, his resignation will make a by-election necessary in Surulere 1 Constituency to fill the vacant seat.

Gbajabiamila has been in the green chamber since 2003 when he was first elected to represent Surulere 1 Constituency. He rose through the ranks of the house to be the speaker of the ninth assembly and has numerous bills to his name.
