Eze Anaba, Vanguard newspapers editor, has emerged President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) with a landslide victory at the election that held on Friday in Owerri, the capital of Imo state.
Anaba succeeds Mustapha Isa of the Silverbird Group as the number one editor in the country.
Theliberationnews gathered that Anaba got 250 votes to defeat his only opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi who polled 81 votes.
The election was part of an array of activities at the ongoing 2023 Biennial Convention of the Guild holding in Imo State.
Mr Anaba holds a Master’s degree in Communication from Leicester University, UK.
At various times, he was the Deputy Editor, Saturday Editor, Senior Deputy News Editor, and the Law and Human Rights Editor.
Accepting the election outcome and conceding defeat, Bolaji Adebiyi, former editor of Thisday Newspapers congratulated Anaba as well as other winners as he wished them a successful tenure.
“Good evening. I have received the outcome of the presidential election and congratulate the winner, Eze Anaba. I wish him a successful tenure. I also congratulate the winners of the other positions and wish them a successful tenure. I thank you for your support,” Adebiyi wrote.
