Mr. Samuel Oduntan, a witness of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the presidential election Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, told the Presidential Election Petition Court that the results of the presidential election in Adamawa State and some other States where PDP was declared winner were dissatisfactory as they were marred by serious cases of irregularities.
Oduntan who was in court on the invitation of Atiku and PDP, made the shocking revelation while he was being cross-examined by counsel to President Tinubu, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN.
He emphatically added that the said irregularities which tainted Atiku’s votes, informed his decision for including the states in the report he tendered before the court and admitted as Exhibits PAH1, PAH2 and PAH3.
While answering further questions from INEC, Tunubu and APC’s lawyers, Mr. Oduntan admitted that he was engaged by the PDP to prepare the reports and to give his evidence before the court, while confessing that he was handsomely rewarded by the PDP for the job.
In a related development, INEC also honoured the subpoena issued on its chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, by coming to tender relevant electoral documents through its Deputy Director, certification and compliance, Mrs. Taiwo Tairu.
However, upon seeking to tender the said documents, counsel to INEC, Mr. A.B. Mahmoud, SAN, told the court that he will be objecting to the admissibility of the said documents, as the petitioners did not make relevant payments for the certification of the documents, as required by law. The court, however, deferred its ruling on the objection to the point of final judgment.
