Like the popular local maxim that says “a rewarding Saturday often time is preceded by a fair Friday” this is applicable in the case of the senator representing Lagos West in the 10th National Assembly, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule who has hit the ground running on her first day as a member of the red chamber.
Adebule, a prolific educationist and one-time former deputy governor of Lagos State has taken a key step in pursuing the promise of qualitative representation made to her constituents.
Although, Adebule’s impressive track record in public service which earned her Lagos West’s senatorial mandate is enough to give one an idea of what to expect from her, she is not wasting time to pick her gauntlet in her adventure to raise the bar of representation at the red chamber.
On her first day on the floor of the red chamber, Adebule announced herself by seconding an important motion raised by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibril.
The motion which was the third order of the day was to compel the senate to send a message to international bodies such as Africa Union, Commonwealth Parliamentary Assembly, Inter-Parliamentary Union, and ECOWAS Parliament among others declaring the senate’s readiness to receive communication.
With her active participation in the Senate’s first plenary, Adebule has sent a strong message that she is on the floor of the Senate to make meaningful contributions, contribute her quota in helping the legislature sustain its sanity and achieve its goals of repositioning the national assembly and ultimately represent and protect the interest of her constituents.
It is therefore safe to conclude that Lagos West is in for a greater time.
