Former Golden Eaglets captain and Super Eagles midfielder, Wilson Oruma, has urged Nigerians to disregard fake news making rounds that he is sick and in dire need of financial assistance.

Recall that last week, a national daily, with a screaming headline, reported that the 46-year-old was fighting for his life on a sick bed.

The publication had added that a video clip showed Oruma lying helplessly in an unidentified hospital receiving treatment via urinary catheters.

A latest video made by Oruma’s younger brother, Dominic, showed the former Super Eagles star observing his ‘routine’ early morning walkout to discredit report of his ill health.

In the video, Oruma announced that he is as fit as a fiddle and urged Nigerians to disregard any contrary report.

Also, in an interview, the former Nigerian Olympic medalist confirmed that the initial pictures were his but they were taken four to five years ago when he was truly bedridden.

His words: “In the first place, I am not in any hospital as reported by the newspaper. Those pictures displayed in that news report were images of four or five years ago. I am fine, and I don’t know why some Nigerians will wish me dead. It is so unfortunate.”
