Seun Kuti, Afrobeat artiste, has given his reason for slapping a police officer in a recent viral video.
The afrobeat musician was on Saturday, in a viral video, captured assaulting a uniformed police operative while on duty.
In his reaction through his Instastory, Kuti said the officer attempted to kill him and his family members. Seun claimed that the policeman had allegedly apologized to him, and he had forgiven him.
He admonished those accusing him of chasing clout to mind their business and not let ‘the police officer lose his job.’
Kuti wrote, “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof, but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.
“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.”
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, had reportedly ordered the arrest of Seun Kuti over the incident in the viral video.
Theliberationnews had earlier reported that the IGP had ordered a speedy and full investigation into the cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the famous singer.
Kuti, in a viral video, was shown slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Saturday, May 13, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Baba assured Nigerians that “acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”
