The Founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Prophet Godwin Ikuru has described those pushing agendas for an interim government in the country as enemies of democracy as he described the outcome of the 2023 general election was the will of God.

The revered clergyman who is a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) made the remark at a press conference organized at Watercress Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on Saturday.

He made it known that Tinubu’s eventual emergence in the keenly-contested election was the plan of God as he called on the anti-democracy players to desist from their plot.

Ikuru added that Tinubu’s victory had been shown to him for two years and it was expected that he won the contest.

Recall that Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 6,984,520 and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi who garnered 6,101,533 votes.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso of the NNPP, on the other hand, came a distant fourth by scoring 1,496,671 votes.

In the last few weeks, the country has witnessed protests in Abuja and some states from those opposing the constitutional swearing-in of Tinubu as the country’s next president on May 29.

In his recent interview on Channels TV, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Yusfu Datti Baba-Ahmed said it will be unconstitutional to swear in Tinubu as the elected president because of what he called election irregularities.

However, at the press conference, Iruku countered Datti’s claim by emphasising that the election was one of the fairest in the nation’s history.

“This election was done free and fair. Prior to the election, the Labour party does not have any of its members in power but now they have several of their members in the national assembly, and state house of assemblies. They have a state governor, this further lends credence to the credibility of the election. If the election was rigged they won’t have any of their members occupying political office. Today, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is calling for an interim government and some groups of people share in his biases.

“They are enemies of democracy and their ultimate plan is to truncate the democratic process in the country. Asiwaju is the father of democracy, Asiwaju fought for democracy. The youths condemning him should read about history, they will understand the things he has done. He has done well. I totally condemn those calling for interim government. It is an offense against democracy because this election was done and it was very peaceful. No one should listen to anyone calling for interim government.

“At this time, I want to call on fathers and mothers in this nation to caution their children. Those who are promoting violence should desist from it. Let peace be.

“Those who do not want the swearing-in ceremony to hold should desist from such as it is undemocratic,” Ikuru said.

On his part, Mr. Bayo Ilupeju espoused that the anti-democracy players are being insincere with their opinions of the election as he argued that the election could be adjudged the best so far in the history of the country, especially since he return of democracy in 1999.

On his part, the Southwest Coordinator of Tinubu Door2Door Ambassador, Mr. Issa Yusuf called on the security agencies especially the police and men of the Department of State services (DSS) to arrest and prosecute those sponsoring the provocative narratives.

Referencing the bible, Apostle Godwin Boi quoted Daniel 2:21 to back his claim that Tinubu would not have emerged as winner if God did not sanction his aspiration as he advised those calling for interim government especially those on the opposition to be gracious in defeat.

Other speakers in attendance concluded that due attention must be paid to the unscrupulous element threatening to truncate the democratic practice in Nigeria with their ill-advised call for military takeover of the country.
