After 17 months of being impeached, a Plateau State High Court Monday has returned Hon. Nuhu Abok as Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Abok who was impeached by members of the House in October 2021 approached the State High Court to contest his impeachment.
Delivering the judgment, Justice M. L. Musa upheld the submissions of the complainants that his impeachment was illegal and, therefore, null and void.
The Court also awarded the sum of N1.5million as cost of appearance and the sum of N138,000 as cost of filing the suit against the defendants.
It will also be recalled that Abok was replaced by Hon. Yakubu Sanda as Speaker at the time of the impeachment.
Sanda was, however, defeated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Mrs. Happiness Matthew Akawu, in the recently-conducted Pengana State constituency election.
