The respected national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed his rating as the foremost presidential candidate in the country. As at early Sunday morning, Tinubu is in early lead. This is also as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), commences the collation of election results nationwide.
Going into the much-talked-about presidential poll, Tinubu was expectedly projected as the possible winner of the poll as political analysts and commentators rated the former Lagos State governor ahead of other 17 contenders in the race especially the candidates of the Labour Party (LP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso respectively.
Although, the elections have had to be extended or postponed in some areas across some states in the country results gathered, so far, put Tinubu in pole position of being announced as the eventual winner of the relatively peaceful general elections.
Theliberationnews reliably gathered that Labour Party results in Igbo-dominated areas in Lagos are expected but ultimately lead to nowhere. Such results are believed to be the expected pattern in Lagos for some years now which is a reflection of the accommodating disposition of the Yoruba host and owners of Lagos.
The Igbos are historically known not to have such accommodating spirit in their own southeastern states of Nigeria.
Tinubu is eventually emerging as the ultimate winner despite the scanty wins of the Labour Party in the centre of excellence. Tinubu’s overwhelming scores over other parties’ candidates in Lagos and the entire South-West states of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti states remain indisputable.
Tinubu is also not just winning in the southwest but also putting up strong showings in the important North according to reliable polling units’ counted votes. So far from results gathered by Theliberationnews, Tinubu is doing well having clinched over 50 percent of votes in Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Borno, Yobe and Rivers states amongst others.
In over 22 States out of 36 and the Federal Capital City of Abuja, Tinubu is leading with about 51.2 percent with the next Party trailing with 29 percent. This is a surefooted victory for Tinubu.
Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, from the results seen so far from polling units across the country, are far away from the presidency not to talk of victory in the election of Saturday.
Nigerians, as the collation begins, look forward to a Bola Tinubu presidency having joyously voted for him to take over from incumbent President Mohammadu Buhari come May 29, 2023.
