Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, the Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Lagos West Senatorial District did not only win her Polling Unit 029, Iba, Ojo but also delivered for the foremost presidential candidate in the country and respected National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Adebule also garnered the highest votes for the party’s House Representatives’ candidate in her polling unit.
She scored 127 votes for herself to fend off competition from Deacon Segun Adewale of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who managed to poll 66 votes.
In the House of Representatives, APC got 114 votes while the Labour Party, without candidate, came close with 103 votes.
For the presidential election, the former deputy governor amassed 121 votes for Tinubu against LP’s 120.
Commenting on the voting process after she cast her vote on Saturday, Adebule who noted INEC officials did not turn up at her polling unit until 10:40 am called on the electoral commission to do better in the area logistics stressing that lateness to the unit left the electorate who had arrived as early as 8 am apprehensive and agitated.
She added that the turnout was commendable but harped on the need for INEC to tidy things up as regards preparation and logistics.
Her words: “Many voters are agitated. It has not always been like this. I’ve been voting here for quite a while. The turnout of voters during this election is commendable. It is better than the previous polls. People are eager to vote.
“INEC should tidy up preparations and logistics early enough and be responsive to the people. People have been waiting here from 8 am and voting didn’t commence until 11.00 a.m. The electorate is not happy. I’m sure the INEC can improve on this.”
